Are you living from the heart?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how much of our lives we spend in our heads.
Thinking about what happened.
Thinking about what might happen.
Trying to make the right decision.
Trying to understand why we feel the way we do.
And I keep coming back to this question:
What would happen if I stopped trying to think my way through everything and listened to my heart instead?
I wonder sometimes if the things that hurt us — the disappointments, the endings, the moments that bring us to our knees — are also invitations.
I’m still not sure if everything happens for a specific reason, but in my experience there is always a lesson to learn from every challenge, if we choose to look for it.
I do believe we get to decide what we do with what happens to us.
We can keep returning to the memory, replaying the story, trying to figure it all out.
Or maybe, we can practice how to be with ourselves when we’re hurting. To feel what’s actually there. To listen for what it might be asking of us to learn.
We live in a world that really loves the mind.
Think harder. Figure it out. Make a plan. Push through. Get it together.
I know that way of living intimately.
But I’m becoming more and more interested in another way.
What does my body say?
What does my heart know?
What changes when those voices get to be part of the conversation too?
At times my mind can give me 100 reasons to stay exactly where I am, while something quiet inside of me already knows it’s time to move.
Maybe that’s part of what it means to live from the heart.
Where we thank our mind for its warnings, acknowledging the fear, and practice listening for the deeper messages that aren’t always the loudest voice in the room.
And noticing how much of our lives might be shaped by old experiences, old beliefs, old versions of ourselves that are still trying to keep us safe.
This is something I’m exploring everywhere in my work right now.
This Wednesday, a new episode of The Superbloom Podcast comes out — and it’s actually my first episode with a male guest.
Brijesh Patel and I had a beautiful conversation called “Evicting the Squatters From Your Heart.”
The title came from our discussion on who we let sit on the throne of our heart. What have we allowed to live in our hearts for far too long?
Whose voices are still in there?
What old hurt is taking up space?
And what might move in if we finally made a little room?
I’m also gathering with a small group of women this Sunday in the salt cave in Gloucester for Embody the Season. There are still a few spaces open.
It feels like the perfect time for a retreat like this. Summer is ending. We’re moving toward the equinox here, and the quieter seasons. Nature is beginning to let go.
Maybe we can, too.
We’ll talk, reflect, rest in the salt cave, and move through deeply relaxing guided meditations together. This is time to recover, to heal, and to make the space to listen to your body.
And there’s one more thing quietly taking shape behind the scenes.
YOGA for the Heart.
It’s a self-guided program I’m creating around something that feels increasingly central to everything I want to share:
Moving from overthinking to feeling, trusting, and living from the heart.
I’ll share more soon, but if you feel a little yes when you read that, reply and tell me. I’d love to know who wants to hear about it first.
For now, maybe there’s just one question to carry with you this week:
Is this my heart speaking… or is this fear trying to keep me where I’ve already been?
Instead of trying to figure out the answer with your mind, put a hand on your heart and just listen.
With love & gratitude,
Osha ❤️
